Dr. Smita Warrier talks about her journey to becoming a dentist on Zoom.

On June 13th, 2025, a group of students and adults joined a  40-minute Zoom session to hear from Dr. Smita Warrier, DMD — a female entrepreneur and the founder of Warrier Dentistry in Charlotte, NC.

Dr. Warrier shared her journey of starting her own dental practice, emphasizing what it meant to pursue her passion as a South Asian immigrant and how that impacted her experience. She spoke about wanting to help others gain confidence through their smiles, as well as the challenges she faced early on in the stages of trying to run a business without a mentor or guidance.

When asked what inspired her to choose dentistry, she explained that her passion for caring for others has always been there. Dr. Warrier encouraged attendees to follow their passions and offered this advice:

"Don't let anybody tell you you can't do it. Don't listen to the naysayers. Surround yourself with people who believe in you, and who lift you up. We are strong and we can do whatever we put our minds to.”

The Q&A portion of the webinar allowed participants to ask questions live via audio or chat. Dr. Warrier was able to cover many topics like the future of AI in dentistry to advice for youth looking to start their own businesses, as well as the role models who inspired her along the way. 

Dr. Warrier’s optimism, openness, and ability to share her experience gave the attendees more than just simple career tips, but an everlasting reminder that resilience can turn your dreams into a reality.
